Freedom from the grip your past has on you.

Freedom from the deep, unspeakable secret that you carry.

Freedom to use your voice, and speak up for yourself.

Freedom to feel safe in your body, and the world.

Freedom to be deeply known and deeply loved.

No matter what you’ve done or what’s been done to you, shame does not get the last word.

Shame tells us the lie that we’re not worthy. It says, if they know you they will leave you. But as Brene Brown says, shame cannot survive being spoken; it cannot survive empathy. In our work together, we’ll be calling out shame so that your true self can come out of hiding and start advocating for change. Here are some of the common experiences I work with:

  • sexual abuse;

  • domestic abuse & violence;

  • childhood abuse & neglect;

  • post-traumatic stress disorder;

  • anxiety & depression;

  • Relationship distress;

  • grief & loss;

  • bullying, etc.

If you can’t understand why you’re still stuck, or you can’t imagine being free from this pain, hear me out…

Imagine you’re walking through the forest one day. You trip, and a sharp piece of wood gets stuck in your leg.

You pull it out, clean the wound and move on, not realizing that a splinter has been left behind, buried deep where you can’t see it.

Days pass, and instead of getting better, your leg becomes swollen and sore, more painful than the day it happened. You spike a fever.

Your body is trying to do what it does so well - HEAL. But this time, you need some extra help. You need your doctor to remove the entire splinter first, so that your body can resume its natural healing process.

It’s the same with trauma.

An emotional experience can get stuck in us like that splinter. We try our best to limp through life, unaware of the inflammation deep inside us, wondering why shooting pain keeps stopping us in our tracks.

My job is to help you remove those left-behind splinters of trauma so that your brain can do what it’s naturally designed to do - HEAL.

why emdr?

“EMDR helped me access some deep places that years of talk therapy alone simply could not touch. It changed my life.”

EMDR+trauma+therapy+kansas

What many people don’t realize is that trauma lives in us both emotionally and physically.

Just as the impact of a car accident can cause our muscles to lock up, the impact of an emotional event can cause our brains to get stuck in fight-or-flight. Just talking about our trauma might not be enough to undo what’s happening on a neurological level.

That’s why I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) into my talk therapy. Through eye movement, we’re able to physically activate the part of your brain that processes emotions and experiences, so that we can change the neurological response to your trauma, and release the emotional hold it has on you.

I love watching my EMDR clients move through their memory and come out the other side a different person - the disbelief that the fear and shame is gone; the relief and aliveness in their faces, the lightness in their bodies… it’s the most incredible thing to witness.

I really want it for you too.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Everyone's therapeutic journey is completely unique and will depend on your goals, the depth and complexity of past pain, your current life circumstances, and how you process experiences as an individual. For most people we meet weekly from a few months to a year or more.

WHAT DO THERAPY SESSIONS COST?

Sessions are $215 per 50-minute session and $430 per 100-minute session and occur on a weekly basis. You can pay with cash, debit or credit card, and FSA/HSA.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

I am considered an out-of-network provider. I do not work with insurance companies, but I will provide you with a superbill after every appointment which contains all of the information your insurance company will need to reimburse you, if allowable in your plan. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out your out-of-network benefits. Session fee is due at the time of service.

I CAN'T PIN-POINT A TRAUMATIC EVENT, BUT I DON'T FEEL RIGHT... WILL YOU STILL BE ABLE TO HELP?

Yes! Whether or not you can identify a specific moment or experience contributing to your current distress doesn't actually matter. I treat present issues through a brain-body informed lens that can help you move through present distress into more freedom, regardless of whether you have specific past traumatic events.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the "No Surprises Act", health care providers need to give private-pay patients an estimate of their bill for health care items and services before those items or services are provided. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. If you schedule a health care item or service at least 3 business days in advance, make sure your healthcare provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule a health care item or service at least 10 business days in advance, make sure your healthcare provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after scheduling. You can also ask any healthcare provider or facility for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you do, make sure the healthcare provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after you ask. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more for any provider or facility than your Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate and the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers, email FederalPPDRQuestions@cms.hhs.gov, or call 1- 800-985-3059.
